Our Stories:  "In this immensely complex and difficult situation, if there is ever to be hope for the future, we need to begin with the children."  Dalia Peretz, former principal. Read her story.

Our Stories: "Our political leaders talk about peace. The school that we have started together as Arabs and Jews is making peace, building it every day, every hour."Carmel Ron, parent. Read her story.

Our Stories: "Sometimes it’s hard being an Arab in Israel. But growing up in a school like mine, you don't tag a person ‘Arab’ or ‘Jew.’ We’re all just people, and that’s how we see each other. Some of my best friends are Jewish." Siwar, 11th grade. Read her story.

FOR STUDENTS

Connect with one of the most hopeful projects in Israel.

At Hand in Hand, students your age are the leaders, creating social change and a more peaceful future through an extraordinary network of integrated public schools.

Students in the United States and other countries can help in many ways. In addition to the suggestions below, we welcome ideas about what has worked best in your school or community.

EDUCATE

Introduce peace education and the way students are transforming Israel by showing Hand in Hand's informational videos in your classroom or assembly; at your church, mosque or synagogue; or elsewhere in your community. In your presentation, you might use the personal stories of those affected by our schools and other information from this web site. We can help you plan your presentation.

Be sure to join our Facebook page, and ask the people on your friends list to do the same.

ADVOCATE

Create a project that is meaningful to you. Submit articles about Hand in Hand's power to create social change to your school newspaper, local and national papers, or blogs. Speak about Hand in Hand’s mission at your synagogue, church, mosque, teen group or elsewhere in  your community. Use Facebook, Twitter and other social networking systems to promote Hand in Hand. (Be sure to join our Facebook page!)

However you choose to be an advocate, know that student voices are powerful for raising awareness — and let us know what you're planning!

FUNDRAISE

Students are endlessly creative at raising financial support. Many choose to highlight Hand in Hand for their birthdays, bar or bat mitzvah, or other special occasion. Hold a fundraiser or online campaign to purchase books, school supplies, or sports equipment. You can use Facebook Causes or Justgive.org to create donation requests and track results. Sell peace bands, notecards, or plan a walk-a-thon or bowl-a-thon.

MEET THE STUDENTS

If you travel to Israel with your family, school or congregation, visit a Hand in Hand school and spend time with students your own age. During the summer you can volunteer at Hand in Hand's summer camp. Or spend a "gap year" in Israel after you graduate from high school or during a semester of college.

From time to time, Hand in Hand students visit the United States. You can host students in your home or arrange for them to speak in your community or school. For example, if you are involved in a Jewish youth group, such as NFTY or USY, ask your local chapter to host Hand in Hand students at a regional conference or kallah
