Hand in Hand: Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Israel has received many awards and recognitions for its contributions to peace education and coexistence, including the following:


BMW Award for Intercultural Commitment, Third Prize, 2010

International competition supporting individuals and initiatives committed to enhancing relations between people from different cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds. 5,000-euro prize given in Munich. See Jerusalem Post article.


Lombardia Region (Italy) Peace Prize, 2007

10,000-euro award given to individuals and organizations showing outstanding work in promoting a culture of peace.


Calouste Gulbenkian International Prize, 2007

Given for “respect for difference in intercultural, interethnic and interreligious dialogue.” Hand in Hand was the first recipient of this award created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, a prestigious European institution in Portugal. We were nominated for the 100,000-euro prize by Colette Avital, diplomat and member of the Israel Knesset. 


Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace in the Middle East,  Institute of International Education, 2007

Created to recognize outstanding work conducted jointly by two individuals, one Arab and one Jewish, advancing the cause of peace in the Middle East. This prestigious award was presented to Hand in Hand cofounders Lee Gordon and Amin Khalaf at a ceremony at the American Embassy in Israel.


The Jerusalem Foundation’s Martha Prize for Tolerance and Democratic Values, 2007

Awarded to Hand in Hand cofounder Amin Khalaf for his life's work.


Berlson Prize for Understanding Between Jews and Arabs, in memory of Yitzhak Rabin, 2006

Awarded by Ben-Gurion University to Hand in Hand’s Galilee school.
