First day of school 2015!

On September 1st, 2015, Hand in Hand opened its doors to 1,350 Jewish and Arab Students!

In Jerusalem, the Galilee, Wadi Ara, Jaffa, Haifa, and our newest school in Tira - Kfar Saba!

Heres what some of our students and parents had to say on the first day back:

“This place isn’t just a school – it’s more like a home. It feels like we are breaking the cycle of hatred, with new students are constantly joining our school and spreading our message of living together to the world around us.”

Ranim and Emmanuel, 11th grade students.

“We believe that living together - Jews and Arabs - is the right way to live in the state of Israel, especially in Jaffa, a mixed city with different religions, cultures and identities. Our daughter Alma learns with kids who are different from her, and when she chooses her friends, she doesn’t think about their religion, ethnicity, or race, but about who they are.”

Ilan, father in Jaffa

“This year I switched my son Bilal from an all Arab pre-school to Hand in Hand because I wanted him to grow up in an environment where he can get to know and respect all cultures, religions, and to understand that we are all equal, that there is no “other”. I want him to develop his identity in a bilingual, caring and accepting environment.”

Muna Turk, mother of 1st grader in Jaffa
