"An Eye-opening Visit at the Max Rayne Hand in Hand Jerusalem School"

"Human development is based on creativity and innovation, on encountering difference," said Professor Manual Trajtenberg in his visit to the HIH Jerusalem School. "We need to make use of your educational knowledge and experience to teach other schools."

Professor Manuel Trajtenberg, Chair of the Planning and Budgeting Committee of the Council for Higher Education in Israel, his deputy, Professor Faisal Azaiza, and the vice president Merav Shaviv, visited the Hand in Hand school in Jerusalem.

"This visit is eye-opening, and there will be repercussions on the continuation of our educational work. I can see that we can learn a tremendous amount from bilingual education and we can implement parts of it in broader contexts in the education system. In this complex and volatile atmosphere, this is a brave, interesting, and pioneering experiment. There is outstanding pedagogical innovation here." Professor Trajtenberg said during the presentation of the school and its programs.
"Bilingual education has been researched in the past, but we need to follow this important work and learn what we can for the other Jewish and Arab schools in Israel" said Prof. Faisel Azaiza, who added "In the future we will look together at ways this model can influence others."

Dani Bar Giora, a member of the Hand in Hand Board of Directors and former Director of the Jerusalem Education Authority, emphasized that the social-educational process, that includes schools and communities, is worthy of all efforts and the Board of Directors is willing to help with anything.

Professor Trajtenberg told our students: "As the head of higher education in Israel, I look forward to visiting our places of learning. What's happening here is amazing. Yes, we live together, and this can enrich our lives. Human development is based on creativity and innovation, with encountering the other. This is a monumental value of our human nature, and the heads of higher education are very interested in this. You should be proud that you are pioneers, working towards shared living in this country."
