Local news features Hand in Hand menorah for Hanukkah!

December 13th, 2015
Last night, Channel 10 featured Hand in Hand's hanukkiah from last year's White House lighting on their nightly news segment!

The news anchor said:

The hanukkiah that we are hosting tonight was made by the students of the Hand in Hand Bilingual School in Jerusalem who were victims of a hate crime only one year ago. Last year, this hanukkiah stood in the White House Hanukkah reception with President Obama. The Bilingual Schools throughout Israel celebrate the holidays of the three religions, and this month are celebrating Hanukkah, Muhammad's Birthday, and Christmas. Happy Holidays to all!

This not only directs widespread public attention to Hand in Hand but also to the values underlying our shared calendar, giving equal place and respect to Judaism, Islam and Christianity.

We were also very moved to see that President Rivlin was invited to this year’s White House Hanukkah reception.  It was a strong message of support for the core values of equality and dignity which we are all striving for.
