President Rivlin hosts Hand in Hand

July 29th, 2015

President Rivlin hosted Hand in Hand students and Project Harmony summer camp participants to his home on July 29th, 2015. The President has already hosted our first grade class after the Arson attack in November 2014, and was excited to meet our students again.

He spoke to the kids about his six grandchildren, and how each one of them are different, but they can still all sit around the same table and enjoy each other.

Yasmin Shibli, a 10th grade student, and Yarden Rosenblat, a 7th grade student spoke to the president about their experience of learning and living together.  Yarden told the president that at Hand in Hand, we stand up against racism, and asked him what he thinks about racism in our society.

He said: "For you and your friends at school it sounds normal to learn together because you go to school together every day, but in general in Israel, we are still a separated society with animosity and alienation. There is a disease in our society; this disease is racism and we are all working to cure it."
