Amal Mattar

Amal Mattar is the community organizer at the Hand in Hand’s Max Rayne School in Jerusalem, where she works to foster meaningful connections among families and build a strong, shared community.

As part of her role, Amal plans and organizes activities for parents, students, and families of the Jerusalem school, facilitates joint activism and volunteering projects, and promotes cooperation between the school and other local organizations and institutions in order to advance shared society in the city.

A graduate of the Hand in Hand Jerusalem Max Rayne School herself, Amal brings years of experience in art, socio-political activism, and education and has worked with diverse populations across Jerusalem, particularly with youth at risk in East Jerusalem. She taught photography and film at the Musrara School of Art and Society and led art workshops through various institutions, including the Jerusalem Artists’ Workshops and the Paley Visual Arts Center in East Jerusalem. Her work often focuses on bridging cultural and social divides through creative expression. Amal holds a degree in Photography from the Musrara School and has showcased her artwork in exhibitions in Israel and abroad, including in Paris, Berlin, and Prague.
