Zohar Shachar

Zohar Shachar is Hand in Hand’s Alumni Coordinator. Zohar manages and oversees Hand in Hand’s alumni network, and also coordinates the Student University Community cohort in Jerusalem. A longtime member of the Hand in Hand community, Zohar’s four children were educated at the Hand in Hand “Bridge over the Wadi” School in Wadi Ara, where she previously served as a community organizer, and led a film-focused HIH Madrassah—a multicultural community learning and dialogue group. Over the years, she has led a wide range of initiatives to promote a shared Jewish-Arab society—from founding “Medical Wadi,” a public Jewish-Arab health partnership in Wadi Ara, to facilitating dialogue groups, cultural events, and joint sports teams. In addition to her work at Hand in Hand, Zohar is a filmmaker, mother, and social activist.
